Letter to S.Kidd

i'm enjoying the summer,
finding random chances to enjoy the arts.
i've been keeping busy with photographic amusements,
playing on poetic swingswets, once or twice a week/day
i slide down that yellow spiral slide
or else i fall off some jungle jim
in this unsupervised playground.

i have not yet been able to shake off the ambiguity
and the ambivalence still clings to me
like an unprepared classmate. there is no instructor
to chastise me for my negligence. there are peers
to lend me questions, words, pencils to sketch out answers;
borrowed utensils of truth to get me through today's lesson.

thanks for giving me an excuse to partake
in this colourful mental excercise.
