THE MYTH OF SHEELA

The Cyclops, Ignamon, son of Ignatious, lived with the moon people. The people were immortal and lived in deep caves in the surface of the moon, unknown to the people of Earth. Ignamon orbited the Earth for centuries before he married Shera, Princess of the Star, ‘Sheramor’, in the constellation of Sheelith 6. Shera was rumoured to have a third eye on her forehead, but wore several shawls most of the time and was seen rarely. Ignatious and Shera, carrying child, came to Earth during the winter of the year of 1986.

They had sought refuge from the Quantum Comet, Zophakia, which travelled faster than the speed of light, and threatened to rob the moon people of their immortality. Fortunately, Ignamon’s father, Ignatious, was a prophet who could see through time and forewarned the two of their untimely destiny. Earth would be the only safe place from the Quantum Comet on the twenty-ninth day of December, that bright year.

Very few of the elders of the moon people chose to leave their home. Ignatious was not among them; he chose to remain on the moon to meet their fate. And so he touched the belly of Shera and gave to her his most prophetic powers and insights. Shera glowed incandescently as the child within absorbed the ancient spiritual wisdom which Ignatious and his people had coveted for centuries.

They arrived on the planet of Earth just in time to deliver the beautiful moon child, Sheela, at the forty sixth minute of the eleventh hour of that December night. Shera and Ignamon held their offspring under the light of the full moon and twinkle of snow. The two grey-blue eyes of the child opened and she looked up to the moon.

For a splinter of a second something very special happened. This something could not have been seen by anyone who was tied to the regular flow of time. But time stopped that day for Ignamon and Shera. Suddenly the moon was absent and the sky turned black. The grey-blue eyes of Sheela clouded and lit up, bright, shining, white, and Shera and Ignamon saw everything. Ignamon took so much into his one eye that he died right there in the returning flash of moonlight.

Shera was made mortal and was blinded in her two known eyes for the rest of her life. No one other than Sheela herself knows the truth about the existence of Shera’s third eye. No one knows for certain how Shera survived and how Sheela was raised in this cruel society; all that is certain is that Sheela was.
