RESPONSE/ABILITY

the days hide
behind me now;
making faces at
the present, poking
at my future.
freedom comes
to future's defense,
spinning me around.
it pushes those slippery
days which slide into the river of
time and the past washes them away.
i hug freedom close to me
and make a committment to choice.
ignoring the river's thundering hush,
i whisper salty nothings into the future's ear
and daydream about the ocean.
