Operation Iraqi Liberation: OIL

The US government has blindfolded its people for far too long. It is obvious to most intelligent people that what has gone on in the country of Iraq is completely wrong. With the top spin-doctors in the country, President Bush has little difficulty in painting a pretty face on their sickening exploits. Bush consistently fails to mention his own failures as President as the most powerful country in the world. In every speech, he builds his country up to be notoriously right and true. While Saddam Hussein is indeed a very evil man, at least he can take responsibility for his own actions. Who knows how many skeletons are stuffed away in Bush’s enormous white closet.

The American media does not seem to make matters any clearer. If news stations like FOX, NBC, and CBS would abandon this national illusion that what they’re doing must be right and true, they would see a much darker image of their so-called mission.

In the Jan/Feb 2004 issue of Adbusters magazine, surveys found a direct correlation between misinformed citizens and FOX viewers. Many FOX viewers answered ‘yes’ to questions like "do the other members of the UN support the actions of the US in Iraq?" and "is Saddam Hussein responsible for the 9/11 attacks?". It seems that many FOX viewers supporting the War in Iraq have no idea what is really going on in the world. But how can the citizens of America have access to the truth? Moreover, considering the influence of the American media over the rest of the world, how can anyone have access to truth? Many citizens would rather sit by and be fed up with empty maxims than find truth, justice, and morality for themselves.

But don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there are many people in America that object to Bush as their poster boy for morality. What Bush and his administration don’t seem to grasp is that saying "God bless America" at the end of every tirade just isn’t cutting it for most people anymore. Many are beginning to see through these spiels that are made up solely of superlatives. Bush speaks of Liberation and Justice as though he actually understands such concepts.

George Bush doesn’t deserve his role as President of the US anymore than Schwarzenegger deserves to be governor. But the fact of the matter is, he who has the gold makes the rules. As long as the success of political leaders and their campaigns depends more on their finances than it does on their qualifications, the US will never acquire a responsible President. Don’t be fooled by those words that Bush can’t even define, the American government doesn’t care about the liberation of Iraq. Bush wants even more power to fuel his purposes. He wants oil.
