MOVING

there isn't any room for me
in your life now

all the boxes are packed
up to the top with
everything worth
the effort of saving

you've even given away
the things you loved most

it must feel good to let go
of all the odds and ends
emotional complications
disguised as mementos
the unneccessary baggage

it must feel good to let go
to take off

i'll see you there
someday
when i'm ready
for such freedom

but i'll save some love
for you there is a little
room left in my closet
amidst empty bottles
and old notebooks

in some old shoe box
rests the memory
of the lingering embrace

remember
two weary beings
clinging to each other
eyes closed

it will be safe there
waiting for you
if you ever want it
