WRITER'S CRAPT DESCRIPTIVE ASSIGNMENT

PERSON

1. Write a profile of a person you know, someone you have observed or learned a great deal about (parent, teacher, friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, sibling) concentrating particularly on physical description. Please do not use the real name of the person.

PLACE

2. Describe in very careful detail a place. It can be any place in the world provided you know it well enough to describe it in close detail. Have something small, and very real, happen there. The focus here is on detail: evoke sights, smells, textures, colours etc. in your description.

EVENT

3. Recall an event or incident that you witnessed but did not understand as a young child and retell it. Try to write from the perspective of a young child using the vocabulary, diction and rhythm of childhood speech. Remember the emphasis is on objective description, so try to avoid interpreting the memory through to your adult understanding.
