THE MYTH OF THE CAVE

in this empty cave,
this hollow lair,
i dwell in the dark
emptiness, surrounded
by these stone walls.

i'm caving into you
into this nightmare dystopia
this aching, quaking earth
that's caving in on itself.

this isn't as bad
as it gets.

the earth splits apart
between us, in lightning
bolt crevices, gaps
too large to jump,
voids too large to fill.

my words fall
between the cracks.

i find myself empty,
hollow inside. the darkness
chokes me, silence echoing
off these solid walls.
i'm caving in.
