WHOLE

sunflower awakens bit by bit
to accept the sun of day
insides rotten to the core
it will not survive today
painter comes and smears the dark
with hollow impressions of right and wrong
doesn't realize his world
will expire before long

elder stays in bed today
he was once tough and young
wife, aged and still charming,
tells him 'it wont be long'
harsh actuality of pleasure
is its own short-lived existence
insipid watchful sky considers
everybody's insistence

you assume the sun rises
to rob you of your dreams
but your opinions are only
blinding you it seems
truth is life is short but if
we can keep these things whole
we are matter, one in structure
you are me and we are all

mountains form themselves of stone
but return to worldly dirt
for a moment creation is celebrated
but soon goes unobserved
the twisting hurt of their approach
halted just on time
and the millions will discover truth
is concealed in the mind

animosity has rendered me
as cold and blank as snow
sun rises to rob me of
what only in dreams i know
and within seconds left behind
and i can see it all
sky is bleeding light on us
we are part of a whole
