THAT PASTEL SCENE OF MOUNTAINS AND TREES

Just once more I wouldnt mind hearing your voice
And feeling your arms wrapped around me
Once more I'd kind of like to see you sleep
By that pastel scene of mountains and trees

I woke up, and wrote this all down
On a piece of paper, at four in the morning
It's so damn hard to remember
What you've been thinking, when you were dreaming

But I can't think of anything I'd want to say to you
Besides the usual small talk, chit-chat; "how do you do?"
"I like your new shoes" and "I like you've done with your hair."
and "how the hell have you been?" but there's nothing else there

In dreaming, I wrote it down
In between all the memories
In dreaming, I thought it up
But it doesn't make sense to me
...But that doesn't matter

I found a perfect place for you to rest
It's big enough for both of us to spend one more night
I found a perfect place for you to rest
Just lay yourself down, on this cold bitter bed tonight

I woke up, and wrote this all down
On a piece of paper, at four in the morning
It's so damn hard to remember
What you've been thinking, when you were dreaming
