THESE BROKEN WINGS

I was an injured bird,
wings wrent and broken from lack of use.
When I could no longer fly,
you gave me new wings,
wings of the spirit, born of your own,
That if I should fly away I would carry you
to even the most frightening heights.

My mouth betrays my words.
That I cannot speak
that which my heart screams to tell.
Only my arms will do justice my heart.
Only they can embrace you
when words cannot.
Through them you will know my love.
With them I will hold on tight,
as our spirits rebel.
